About Us
Around 5 years ago, the founders of Digital-Cafe, Lorna and Ian (us) realised there was nobody people could turn to for advice when first opening a cafe, restaurant or bar.
I (Ian) mostly run the blog, whilst Lorna juggles the logistics of the company. I have always worked in commercial kitchen equipment, working in the factories initially and then became regional distributor and operations manager for top companies prior to us starting digital-cafe. Lorna has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years, and opened and owned three of her own. Since she has been assisting other people starting their own business within the hospitality industry.
It can be very easy to end up spending a fortune on equipment you don’t really need or that isn’t quite right for you, which is why we started our consultation company and our blog!
We offer advice to people who are opening bars, restaurants and cafes, who aren’t sure about the necessary equipment, the legal side of having commercial kitchen equipment and many other things.
Since launching digital-cafe, we have helped over 250 businesses launch, whether it be sourcing equipment for them or helping them ensure they are following all legal requirements – we have been there every step of the way.
We are extremely passionate about what we do. We love helping people establish their dreams of opening a restaurant or a bar and we want to help you too!
Due to our vast experience in the process of opening an eatery or bar, we decided to start blogging about our experiences – we can’t reach everyone in person so why not offer our advice online!
We have received such positive feedback since starting our blog and we have even been able to assist people by doing online consultations and offering advice via email.
One of the biggest requests we received was to review products and it has become something we love to do – from grills, to coffee machines. We have tried and tested them all to save you the hassle and money of doing it yourself.
